Yes, I’ve certainly been away from the blogosphere for a while, and it has taken something truly great to make me return.
I’ve been following Elsie’s blog for some time now, and she’s nothing but inspiring. I watched her open her own fashion shop Red Velvet and now they’ve launched their own dress line, which is where this chevron patterned beauty comes from.
I’ve been thinking a lot about creating my own patterns, but I’m really confused where to start. Granted, I haven’t done as much research as I could be doing on the subject. Do I need a dressmaker’s mannequin (hello birthday!)? Should I draw it out on a lining paper or just wing it with tailor’s chalk? If anyone has some advice or can link to a resource, I’d be grateful.
I think the first item I’d like to make sans pattern is a jumper. I’ve got three other garments in my queue right now, but I’m so ready for spring fun dresses.
As for my mysterious disappearance, the honest truth is I’ve been working on my New Year’s Resolutions.
Studying for the GRE – at least an hour a day.
Training for a 5K – I’ve got the date set, so I’m trying to run (well, jog. ahem, let’s face it, walk) every day.
Applying for jobs that I want – hello rejection, everywhere I turn.
Mediating – Well, I’m using youtube videos for guided meditation. I think it’s time to pick up a book and try to discover meditation’s true powers.
Learning to do without – I’ve thrown out more than 40 things (posts to come), but I still have more stuff wherever I turn.
