AntiValentinesDayCandyHeartMagnets_07

Happy February everyone! And perhaps, most importantly, happy Super Bowl Sunday. I’m not into sports, so I won’t be watching the Bowl, unless you mean the Puppy Bowl, which is my favorite. I’ll probably use this time to go to the places in NYC that are normally too crowded to bother (I’m looking at you Trader Joe’s).

These Anti-Valentine’s Day hearts made me laugh. My favorite is “meh.”

Reasons why you’re late.

This hand-painted apron would make a sweet, personalized gift.

I’m so glad copper is in right now. I can never get enough. How elegant is this DIY copper candle? It looks expensive.

I really need to find a reason to use this whale fabric. Suggestions?

These West Coast embroidery kits are stunning. I wish they had some for the East Coast.

Would you try a breakfast soup?

Also for breakfast, these citrus ricotta crepes are so cheery they’d brighten up any winter morning.

emoji cookies

Happy weekend everyone. Can you believe we’re almost through with September? I’d like to hold onto fall for as long as I can, so I’m a little in denial. This week the weather has been so crisp and cool, which means snugly cat season is among us! It’s my favorite time of year. Watson’s winter coat is also coming in. This week he’s doubled in size because of the extra fluff. So cute. Ok, enough talk about cats. Here are some great links for your weekend.

But wait, speaking of cats, this sewing machine cat scratcher is every crazy-crafter/cat lover’s dream. And you can make it yourself.

All right. There is no excuse. I have got to make some type of emoji craft asap. How awesome are these cookies?

This dessert sushi goes above and beyond. Perfect for a fun girl’s night.

Plus, a pocky cake!

Sealing homemade vanilla extract in wax makes it even more fancy.

And these planet cake toppers are perfect for astronomy lovers.

DIY-Dancing-Girls-Emoji-Pinata1

Happy long, well-deserved, much-needed weekend! Are you traveling? We’re staying at home (we’re such homebodies!) and spending some quality time with friends. I plan on drinking wine we picked up from a vineyard upstate. It feels like fall and I’m looking forward to spending time outside while it’s not too cold – so you can find me in my backyard and on my best friend’s roof. I’m also going to buy some new running shoes, play board games, and take a hike in central park. I guess it sounds boring, but I’m excited for all of it.

Anyway, here are some of my favorite links from this past week.

These dancing girls emoji pinatas (!). How fun. I can’t help but love it. I subscribe to the weird cult that loves this emoji. Do you?

Summer’s not quite over, so how great would it be to put your flowers in a pineapple vase?

Speaking of flowers, I’m loving these floral-garnished cocktails. How classy.

Since I’m pretty much obsessed with pom poms, why not put them on a cake?

I’ve been so drawn to home decor projects this week. I guess I’m nesting. I absolutely fell in love with this wooden arrow wall art.

And let’s talk about this list of restoration hardware DIYs. They all look great and so close to the real thing!

Also, Ryan and I finished our first week where we’re both working from home. I have traditionally worked from home, but now he’s staying at home as well. We didn’t drive each other crazy, yet, but it definitely feels cramped. We’re on a mission to turn some more areas in our house into office space and I am inspired by this beautiful co-working space.

PomPom

(via furbish studios)

February is finally over! I am so relieved to be heading full-speed into spring. Although, today is the coldest day we’ve seen in a few weeks. Spring is taking its sweet time.

Tonight I’m hosting a craft night. We’re making wine spritzers from our soda stream and cooking dinner. We’ll also be making various pom pom crafts, hence the photo above. If you need inspiration for what to make this weekend, here are some tasty and creative links.

Mardi Gras is coming up! Celebrate with these festive Mardi Gras cupcakes.

How cute are these cookie monster macaroons?

And if you’re still craving sugar, A Subtle Revelry did an amazing roundup of pinata cakes.

Elizabeth has been doing all sorts of cool things with essential oils and today she made a healing hand lotion.

This etsy shop features amazing wool felted constellations. They are beautiful.

Also, Cabaret is coming back to Broadway featuring Alan Cumming as the Emcee! How amazing is that? My roommate and I are grabbing tickets. I feel so fortunate to be able to see this. I love this musical and especially love Alan Cumming as the lead.

Happy Friday everyone! I’m sitting at the airport, trying to make my way to Florida. I’ll be spending the weekend in Tallahassee. I’m so excited to see my best friends. Then I’m making my way south to spend Thanksgiving with my parents.

Jonathan Adler Champagne Candle

Here are a few amazing links that I wanted to share:

This d.i.y. chalkboard cheese board would make a perfect gift!

I am making this deer string art on a log. I already have the supplies! It’s so beautiful.

This etsy shop makes sleek-looking felt kitty beds and homes. They look so cozy.

How sexy is this Jonathan Adler candle (pictured above)? I have never been more tempted to spend $40 on a candle before. Christmas, anyone?

And here are a few yummies for you.

Take your Thanksgiving treats to go. Pumpkin Bread in a jar!

Butternut squash cannoli. I’m making this. The New York Times does not mess around.

Hello friends. This weekend, I’m spending a lot of time at home. I just moved my cats into the new apartment and I want to keep an eye on things. My roommate also has a cat, so we’re spending a lot of times doing cat introductions. They can be such grumpy creatures. But it’s so worth it, especially when they take naps with you.

Sleepy Cats

It’s a beautiful weekend. I hope to get a little bit of baking done and a little bit more unpacking. I hope to show you the place, when it finally comes together.

Erik Klein Wolterink takes photos of ethnic kitchens. There is so much to look at. How do they differ from yours?

This Anthropologie Plate Wall D.I.Y. is such a pretty way to decorate a wall.

I must have had a major sweet tooth while collecting links this week. First, Salted Caramel Ice Cream Cake Shots, and then this banana cake. I couldn’t decide!

I’m in the process of decorating the apartment, and this bean bag roundup has inspired me.

These D.I.Y. marquee lights look so professional, yet so easy to make.

This is really the best way to end the post. This giant sleeping cat couch is perfect.

rusted antique cars

Yay! It’s here again. I’m so happy this weekend is here. I’ve been on vacation for the past three weekends. Ryan and I went to New York for my birthday (no pictures, sorry), and spent the last weekend at a beach house with some friends. On our way back we stopped at this antique car graveyard outside of Tallahassee. I snapped some photos and placed them on my flickr.

This weekend I’m only doing two things: I’m getting a massage (!), and watching the last episode of Battlestar Galatica (!!!). Last episode ever. What am I going to do with my life? I’m going to need the massage just to calm down from the tumultuous after-effects. Besides that, I’ll be vegging out. Here are a few links from around the internet.

Ryan is making this tofu and cauliflower fried “rice” for dinner tonight. I can’t wait.

Thin Mint and Bailey’s Chocolate Float – Holy cow! Just in time for Girl Scout Season.

Also, slow cooker chocolate and nutella bread pudding is a complete win. I need more reasons to use my slow cooker.

This Saul Steinberg photograph is so fun to look at.

This has been quite a week for foxes. First, this fox pillow d.i.y., this starry fox drawing, and then this story about domestic foxes.

And in case you can’t make it down to the amazon Rainforest this weekend, don’t worry. Google did it for you. They’ve added street view to parts of the Amazon river! So cool! I love technology.

What are you doing this weekend?

the weekender 3/16/2012

Happy weekend! I’m always curious to see what household item my cats will turn into their next play toy. Watson has no idea how much my heart melts when I see him hold this plastic rose in his mouth.

My friends and I rented a beach house in Apalachicola this weekend. I plan on spending every second in its over-sized jacuzzi tub. Sorry, friends. Ryan’s Irish band is playing at the historic theater there for St. Patty’s Day.

Last night I ran 5 1/2 miles! And then went and died in a Little Caesar’s Hot n Ready. It was too ambitious of me to think I could run for that long and cook dinner. Lesson learned. But I’m only .75 miles away from my 10k goal. My official 10k is at the end of the month.

Anyway, on to the official post. Here are some links for the weekend:

Loved this collection from Secret Squirrel.

The best of color and food. These Pantone inspired tarts are so fun to look at.

This elephant bean bag could be my best friend. I just want to read a book in its lap.

Oh, this hair tutorial! And it doesn’t even require French braiding. Make everyone swoon with a double braid gibson tuck.

These metallic rocks by Jim Hodges are so pretty. I wish I could visit the gallery.

This spaghetti squash au gratin reaffirms my love of spaghetti squash. I can’t wait to try it.

Have a great weekend!

Apologies for the radio silence the past week. I started my 10k training group and I’m trying not to fall behind. Basically, I’ve been running a lot.

My routine: I get off of work at 5 p.m. Run for 45 minutes. Get home around 6:30 p.m. Take a hot soak. Eat a bag of popcorn (dinner). Watch 20 minutes of Downton Abbey before I realize this is boring. Then I go to bed (8:30 p.m some nights, I’m such a lightweight).

Sometimes I switch it up by going to my boyfriend’s house and watching Battlestar Galatica(!) until I pass out on his couch.

So, I haven’t been cooking or crafting. But I have links for you!

Kit Kat Cake

I can’t explain how much I desire this Kit Kat Ice Cream Cake.

This glitter jar DIY. I want them all over my house.

How to look your best in photos. Please god, I need to remember all of this.

Heart-shaped sugar cubes or heart-shaped milk cubes for some DIY Valentine’s Day cheer.

Add lace to the cuff of your jeans for some cute detail.

These photos of exploding food look too cool. Plus, we all love food and explosions, right?

Plus, this is how it all started.

Happy Weekend, Folks. I’m just going to be honest and say that I’ve spent all of my free time this week watching Downton Abbey. I’m hooked and almost done with the first season.

Such  great costumes. Ok. On to the fun stuff.

How quirky is this DIY Hot Air Balloon Lantern? Perfect for the kid’s room or, you know, creative art hipster types.

A glue chart! I can’t be the only one who gets excited about these things. It tells you the appropriate type of glues to use on various surfaces. But when in doubt, Gorilla Glue for all.

These cushions made me swoon.

Maybe it’s influence from the obscene amount of Battlestar Galatica Ryan and I are watching, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I want this comet necklace.

How a single layer cake makes everything nicer speaks truths.
