Hi, I’m Heidi. Nice to meet you. I reside in Brooklyn, where I live as a hobbyist, equestrian, and struggling epicurean. I initially created this space to share DIYs and recipes, but the demands of being a DIY blogger and full-time professional started to wear me down. Because I didn’t have the time or energy to keep up a regular posting schedule, I thought a lot about the direction of my blog. When reflecting on my favorite posts, I realized it wasn’t the crafts or the recipes that I liked the most. It was the memories. I decided I was much happier using this space to document my life so I don’t take any moment for granted. I’ll still post the occasional DIY and recipe, but you’ll probably see a lot more posts about running, biking, travel, and living in New York.
about the title
When I was young my grandmother would tell me my birthday would arrive “a week from Thursday.” As an ever-impatient child, I just couldn’t wait and brought that mentality into adulthood. I rushed through high school, college, and was rushing through whatever came next. The future was always too far away and the present was long gone. Living like that made it easy to lose sight of the fun, simple, and beautiful things in life.
So, I made a choice to live a life with intention – to stop stressing out about things I couldn’t control and start improving those I could, to move more, spend more time outdoors. I began creating, tasting, and working with my hands. I threw my entire body and senses into being present, enjoying beauty, and laughing often.
commitment to good recipes
Bad recipes can really ruin your day. I endeavor to make every recipe easy to follow and accurate. I’d love to hear if you’ve made something of mine and I welcome all feedback.
Sometimes it’s not your cooking skills, it really is the recipe. You won’t see a recipe on this blog that makes sub-par food. Promise.
His name is Ryan. We’ve been together for a while. He hangs around the blog a lot and is a major player (and food taster) behind the scenes.
Watson and Riley
These are my cats, you’ll see them around here a lot. I love them. They have an entire category dedicated to them.
Use of Photos
I take all of my own photos. If you would like to use one of my photos on your blog, please attribute me as the photographer and link back to the original post with the photo.
I sometimes use other photographer’s photos in my posts (for roundups or collages). I always provide a photography credit and link back to the original source. If you are the original owner of the photo and would like the photo removed, please let me know and I’ll take it down immediately.
