currently loving: laura amiss textile design

I just can’t get enough of these textile designs on canvas from Laura Amiss. She’s a textile artist living in Amsterdam.

I love what she does with fabrics.

city living – stitched city scape canvas print

My favorite. I could stare at this one all day.

I was different

She also does prints.

Teapots

Triangles

And she does rad sewn portraits. Be sure to check out her etsy shop or view more of her work.

I felt sorry for this desk – a makeover story

I found this little lady in a moment of impulse dumpster diving on my way home from the gym.

desk pre paintjob

I hate to see a perfectly good piece of furniture thrown away. Especially since this one had such unique shelving. It just needed a little love.

desk pre paintjob

Or maybe it had too much?

I felt sorry for it, took it home, cleaned it up and gave it a new coat of paint.

deskI really need to stop feeling sorry for inanimate objects. But look how much better she turned out.

desk with paint

I used a Valspar Semi-Gloss.

Hello friends. Another weekend is upon us. This one will include blueberry picking and craft beer tasting. This summer is turning into a cheery one.

I want so very much to make a poncho top [tutorial]. How perfect and lightweight for summer.

Take some old handkerchiefs and make them into panties! What a great upcycle.

I’ve mentioned my love of asparagus here before. Well, perhaps its only rival is my love of cake. Now I can have both with this brilliant asparagus cake.

Jordan Ferney’s DIY photo booth printables are so hip and fun. I need to find an occasion to set up my own photo booth.

Have a good weekend!

I love this image. Did you ever read The Little Prince when you were younger? It was one of my favorites.

It’s that time of the week again. Happy weekend all. I plan to eat more grilled food and take a kayaking trip on one of our local rivers. I love kayaking. Northwest Florida is truly a heaven of outdoor treasure.

Anyway, here are some links I’ve been dying to share.

How cute is this umbrella frock? She turned an umbrella into a dress for a costume project.

I’m loving these lace trimmed shorts.

And I can’t tell you how much I’ve been desiring this Kate Spade bag.

I’m still enamored by the terrarium craze. I thought this sewed terrarium tutorial is a unique and beautiful way to display them. Also, glass doesn’t break when the cats knock them over.

These coffee stencils are a great way to make your favorite coffee lover (or yourself) feel special.

Have you ever had a beer cocktail? I had my first one a year ago. They can be so refreshing and strong. I cannot wait to make this raspberry beer cocktail on a hot summer day.

It’s Mother’s Day weekend! Do you have anything special planned? Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see my mom, but a phone call is planned. My boyfriend ordered a great grill [the other one broke], and it should arrive today, so I think we’ll spend all weekend eating grilled food. I can’t wait.

In honor of that, I spent a good twenty minutes reading The Kitchn’s 33 Recipes & Tips for Grilling, Gardening, and Eating Outside. Which included a recipe for grilled pizza and grilled guacamole.

And more links to make your Friday a happy one:

Here’s a cute way to make those left over toilet paper rolls into a pretty piece of art.

Save your leftover sewing scraps and transform them into fancy cartography.

I just love images of bento and want to make my own. Here are five tips for packing a bento lunch.

I’m dreaming of these vibrant kitchen towels.

Since not all of us have professional make up artists on call, this tutorial on how to contour your face can help enhance facial attributes.

And finally, slow cooker mac and cheese – yes and yes.

Have a happy Mother’s Day and a great weekend.

A lot of my friends have been not-so-happy lately. Many of them have fallen onto hard times or have just lost their way. So, I wanted to share a few links that focus on positivity, happiness, and the like. Also, I’m linking to their parent sites, which happen to be a few of my favorite sites to visit when I’m in need of council or inspiration.
